In 1992, Impel released a trading card set titled DC Cosmic Cards. It was essentially the DC version of the Marvel Universe trading card sets Impel had been releasing since 1990. It was an…interesting set. I honestly think the Marvel cards were stronger in terms of design, but I still love the DC version.

Superman had a lot of real estate in the set, starting in the first section, which was called Hero Heritage. Each of the characters that were chosen were given three cards, each one showing that character from a different era, Golden, Silver, and Modern Age. Showing that the people behind the set had the collector in mind, the three cards fit nicely in the nine pocket loaders that collectors could use to store their cards.

Lex Luthor was part of the Villain Heritage section.

As did Mr. Mxyzptlk.

Members of Superman rogues gallery as well as his allies also had representation in the set.

Action Comics #1 and Superman #1 were part of the Classic Covers section.

And while he wasn’t in images in the Great Battles section, Superman did pop up here and there on the front of the cards.
