So…some changes are afoot!

It All Comes Back to Superman is becoming The Bailey Planet Podcast.

Some of you are reading this and going, “Okay. Sounds good.”

And some of you might be wondering why this is happening.

For those people, here’s the deal.

Back in late 2025 I had to part ways with the hosting company that I had been using since 2008 because they wanted well over $1000 that I just didn’t have to keep the site and everything that went with the site going. I don’t do this for a living. I have a Patreon, but it doesn’t pull in, “Have over a thousand dollars just lying around for a rainy day” money. This is on top of the issue I had in 2023 where my shows weren’t getting to market because of some issue that I think had to do with Feedburner but I never really found out what the issue was. So, I switched over to Libsyn for newer episodes, which meant additional monthly costs.

So, The Fortress of Baileytude went away and this site, Bailey Planet, was born. And I’m slowly trying to rebuild what I had while also trying to figure out what this site’s identity is going to be.

While all of this has been going on I have had this low key desire to do something of a podcast reset for It All Comes Back to Superman. The show has been a lot of fun and I’ve done some work that I am genuinely proud of, which is saying something because I am normally quite hard on myself. But, I have been wanting to get back to talking about things other than Superman as well. I still have a bunch of Superman stuff that I want to go through, but there are other characters calling to me and I don’t have the time or funds to start other shows. This isn’t the Fortress days where starting a new show was as easy as creating a new RSS feed. Now I have to pay an additional monthly thing if I want to do a new show.

I sat on this for a few months, letting it stew, trying to figure out what to do and hit upon the idea of keeping the It All Comes Back to Superman feed going but start putting out episodes of a new show. Renaming the show is easy. You just got into the little cog thing and change some stuff around and, “SHAZAM!” it’s done. I decided to go back to what I did when I started podcasting in 2007 with Views From The Longbox and do a show that wasn’t solely about one thing. I’d keep Superman as a focus but give myself room to talk about other stuff as well.

But what to call it?

I toyed with brining back Views From The Longbox, but ultimately decided against it. I love that name, and it was where I started and cut my teeth on doing a show. What kept me from going in that direction is that while I wanted to do a show with a similar format I also wanted to do something fresh. Something new.

And then it hit me.

Why not do a show called The Bailey Planet Podcast and tie it into the new site?

And that’s where we are.

So, I have five more episodes of It All Comes Back to Superman to put out. Three of which are already recorded and two I need to do. I am going to end things with the final installment of Moving Kryptonian Images, which just feels right. Then, in mid October, The Bailey Planet Podcast launches. Things will be slow to start, as real life is kicking into gear and I’m not sure what the next year is going to hold for me in certain areas, but I can commit to doing at least two episodes a month to start.

For those that enjoy The Overlooked Dark Knight, that show isn’t going anywhere. It’s still part of the “network” so to speak but is staying on its own feed.

And that’s where we are.

For those that liked It All Comes Back to Superman, I’m sorry that I’m bringing it to an end, but I feel like I’ve done everything I wanted to do with it. Some of my ideas have been done by other shows and I don’t want to seem like I’m copying them. Yeah, it doesn’t matter in the long run because different people will do different things with the same material, but I’m trying to carve out a new identity and I can’t do that with an existing show. I hope you’ll stick with me, but understand if you decide not to.

Finally, if you are subscribed to It All Comes Back to Superman you don’t have to do anything to follow The Bailey Planet Podcast. The feed stays the same. Also, I’m keeping the It All Comes Back to Superman episodes on the feed, so those aren’t going away.

And I think that just about covers it.

If you made it this far, thanks. I appreciate it.

One response to “BEHOLD…THE BAILEY PLANET PODCAST”

I’ve said a few times that It All Comes Back to Superman is my favorite podcasts but this announcement is by no means sad news for me. When I started listening to your podcasts, Views was dead or nearly dead so getting a Views 2.0 ( or is it 3.0 now?) is pretty exciting. Also it’s a nice parity between the podcast and the website, something you didn’t really get during the Fortress days. It gets funnier to me every time Moving Kryptonian Images’ finale gets pushed back. I’m excited for what’s to come and I’LL be sure to be there when this next chapter starts

Mission Statement

The Bailey Planet is a lot of things. Part blog. Part journal. Part ramblings of a middle-aged man that is semi-retired as a comic book reader and collector. Part second home for the podcasts I host or co-host. Part archives for stuff I’ve scanned over the years. Part archives for anything related to Post Crisis Era of Superman.

It’s a lot of things.

The site will be about Superman. And other stuff occasionally. But mostly Superman.

Patreon

I have a Patreon. It is essentially a tip jar for the moment, so I can’t promise exclusive content, but if you could chip in $1 a month that would help the cost of this site and the podcasts I produce. If you can’t, that’s cool. I know times are hard.
