FCTC Classic Episode 1 – Man of Steel Issues 1 & 2

Welcome to From Crisis to Crisis Classic! Because of the original feed getting lost due to financial considerations I (Michael) decided to start representing them on this feed to give them a new home since people still seem to be finding them.

Note before listening…check out the original release date below if you hear something that sounds kind of off or doesn’t align with the social norms of today. Or if the audio quality isn’t up to snuff of what you’d hear from this show today. These epsiodes are represented as they were first released. No editing. No George Lucas style revamps. I’m doing this mainly because I want to retain the original feel of the episodes and also because…well, I’m lazy.

Episode 1 – Man of Steel issues one and two

Original Release Date – May 12, 2009

This is the one that launched the whole thing. Fun fact, Jeff and I had never actually spoken until we recorded this episode. I was only two years into my podcasting career, so I was still finding my voice and Jeff hadn’t quite figured out his audio, which is why he sounds like he does.

Original Show Notes

This week your hosts, Michael Bailey and Jeffrey Taylor, kick things off with the mini-series that started the Crisis to Crisis era.  After a little bit of background info on the creation of the series Jeff and Mike get into the nitty gritty and explore the first two issues of the series.  Experience or re-experience the final days of the Post Crisis Krypton, how the Kents found the baby Clark Kent, Clark beginning to discover his origins, Superman’s first appearance, the first meeting with Lois Lane, Superman’s first days in Metropolis and how Clark got the job at the Daily Planet.

Part index. Part commentary. Part history lesson. All podcast.

Not sure if you are aware or not but all the episodes are still on Spotify to stream or download as far as I can tell. I just started a read through about a month and a half ago and I’ve listened through episode 10. Pointing people there insteading of re-uploading them one at a time might save you some time and money.

Just curious why you guys stopped doing the show. The amount of depth and detail you put into it made it one of, if not the best oral history podcast on a comic.

Thank you for letting me know about this. I thought that since the files are no longer where the RSS feed is pointing to that they wouldn’t be there.

Mission Statement

The Bailey Planet is the web home for my comic book ramblings. Sometimes that will be a random house ad. Sometimes it might be more of an essay. Most of the time it will be a post about the latest episode of one of the podcasts that I host or co-host. No matter what the content is, this site is all about my love of comic books and super-heroes.

I have a Patreon. It is essentially a tip jar for the moment, so I can’t promise exclusive content, but if you could chip in $1 a month that would help the cost of this site and the podcasts I produce. If you can’t, that’s cool. I know times are hard.
